Yoga with A Conscience

Yoga has become big business in Sydney, pricing it well out of reach for those who need it most.

COMMUNE.Yoga aims to improve the health and well being of our neighbourhood through physically inclusive and financially accessible classes, workshops, and events.

Our space is simple, mellow, and entirely donation-driven. We truly believe the practice can gradually help alleviate anxiety and depression, and are dedicated to serving those in our community living with these and other challenges. We intentionally designed our experience by stripping away the ego, frills, dogma, and politics that surrounds much of today’s yoga scene.

Our mission is to provide the means and encouragement for everyone to enjoy the benefits of yoga.

 

OFFERINGS

COMMUNE.Yoga offers classes designed for all skill levels, from the complete newbie to seasoned yogi, lead by highly trained and certified yoga instructors. Our teachers understand yoga is much more than physical exercise, and have chosen COMMUNE.Yoga to give back by helping others rediscover their inner calm.

BOOKINGS: No need! Just show up 10 minutes before class starts.
WHAT TO BRING: Nothing! We have Lululemon yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, blankets, and straps free for you to use.
WHAT TO WEAR: Something comfy, trackies or shorts and a t-shirt will do.
DONATION: $15 per class is suggested. We accept cash and EFTPOS.

Yin is a passive style of yoga focused around gently releasing tension within the connective tissues of the body. As each pose is typically held 3-5 minutes, it's a perfect complement for active people seeking flexibility and introspection.

Hatha is the classical style of yoga designed to strengthen both the body and the mind. It is moderately paced with slightly longer holds per pose — a great fit if you’re looking to fine-tune your alignment and cultivate balance.

THURSDAY PILATES

Pilates offers a full body, low-impact strength and toning workout with an emphasis on flexibility. Each week places emphasis on movement and toning of different body parts– upper body, abs, thighs and butt, then we tie it all together for the final week of the month.

Flow into your weekend with our most uplifting class. In true Vinyasa style, it emphasises movement and fluid transitions between poses to seamlessly link your body and breath.

LIABILITY + RELEASE

When you enter a COMMUNE.Yoga (CY) class, workshop, or event, you enter an area where physical activity is likely to occur.

Yoga includes physical movements as well as an opportunity for relaxation, stress re-education and relief of muscular tension. As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Yoga is not recommended and is not safe under certain medical conditions.

By voluntarily participating in any CY offering, you affirm that a licensed physician has verified your good health and physical condition to participate in such a fitness program. In addition, you will make the instructor aware of any medical conditions or physical limitations before class. If you are pregnant, become pregnant or are post-natal or post-surgical, your voluntarily participation verifies your physician’s approval to engage in physical exercise. You also affirm that you alone are responsible in deciding whether or not to participate, and participation is at your own risk. You agree to assume full responsibility for any and all damages which may incur through participation.

Upon entering the CY premises and voluntarily participating in any of its offerings, you recognize and agree to irrevocably release and waive any claims you have now or may have hereafter against CY (or any of its affiliated teachers) to the greatest extent allowed by law in the state of New South Wales.
